Rose Garden Baby Fanciers Club

We went out this evening with our neighbors to the Rose garden baby fanciers Club, which is really just a parents group for our neighborhood. Molly enjoyed herself and didn't argue or fuss with any of the other babies.
It was nice for us because we felt like we getting off on the right foot and being part of the community. It was also nice to see other babies and compare stories, it turns out that Molly is 100% normal. No real surprise but it is nice to be reassured.

2-Month Check-up and Immunizations

Just back from our two month doctor visit. Molly got 5 immunizations today (you can almost make out one of her bandages on her upper left thigh). It looked like she was surprised by them (all happy and smiling and then "jab" and SCREAM).

Molly has grown!!! Here's the latest:
  • Weight: 10 pounds, 15.7 ounces (50th percentile)
  • Height: 24 inches (91st percentile)
  • Head Circumference: 39 cm (50th percentile)

Doc says she looks and sounds healthy. She certainly doesn't seem worse for wear right now (as seen by her playing with Adam).

9 Weeks Old!!!

Molly has spent the better part of the last two days sleeping. She is 9 weeks old today!

Here's what our 9-week-old is up to:
  • Sleeping long stretches (6 hours is becoming common)
  • Smiling
  • Cooing ("talking")
  • Visually tracking things, people, etc.
  • Holding up her head (except when REALLY tired)
  • Listening to music (and intently watching when daddy plays guitar)

Angry Baby tricks

When Molly is angry she stiffens her legs so much that she can stand unaided for a short time. The example here is not even the best we have seen.

Two Months Old!!!

Molly is 2 months old today. She's celebrating by blowing bubbles and wiggling in her bouncer. Parents are celebrating by unpacking things. Life is good.

Peace in Chaos

Our "stuff" arrived yesterday. The house is entirely filled with boxes, as is the garage. The only place that is peaceful and relatively neat is Molly's room.
Here's Molly hanging out in her room while we are working in other areas in the house. Doesn't it look like a real babies room now? Notice the new crib that Grandma Ann bought us day before yesterday. YAY!!!!
Hopefully the rest of the house will be as peaceful and organized as this one soon!

Outing

One of the exceptionally wonderful things about living in San Jose is that we can go outside in the summertime. We went out this evening on a walk around the neighborhood... Molly's wearing her floppy hat, and enjoying looking around at everything.

Eight Weeks Old!!!

Yesterday, Molly turned 8 weeks old! We celebrated by going in to Intuit and joining in the "Iron Chef Berry" judging. Molly handled all of the new people beautifully... except for our friend Kathy, who she decided to spit up on. Sigh...

Molly has been eating up a storm this past week, and spent much of the day yesterday sleeping. Fortunately, she's sleeping well at night too. We think she must be having a growth spurt. Can't wait to get our scale so we can see if she's gained weight. She feels like she's gained a lot!

Moving Day!!!

Movers arrived this morning at about 7:15. They are loading the truck now. Molly's hanging out in her swing, overseeing operations.

Seven Weeks Old Today!!!

Molly is seven weeks old today. Every day she seems to acquire new skills...

What our 7-week old is up to:
  1. watching the mobile over her crib
  2. wiggling with intention
  3. holding her head up, most of the time
  4. And... of course, frequently smiling...

Proof of smiles!

The big week begins...

Moving week! This morning, Adam is driving the pickup, packed to the gills with stuff, to California. He's picking up our house keys (which we officially take possession of TODAY) and dropping off stuff. One of the items is a new deep-freezer, which will be plugged in and ready for when Wendy and Molly arrive on Friday night. It is destined to be the new home of our frozen breast milk...

Meanwhile, Wendy and Molly are holding down the fort in Arizona.

Here's Molly, holding down the fort, after a trip to Safeway this morning:

SIX WEEKS!!!!

The long-awaited week six is here!!!
Adam and I spend all of our time with Molly, so it doesn't seem like she's grown that much. She has, however, outgrown almost all of her newborn clothes, and fits nicely in 3-month and a few 3-6 month outfits. Most of her issues have to do with body LENGTH rather than GIRTH. As you can see from this picture, she's pretty much taking up the entire bouncer now.

Apparently, Week six is when crying hits it's peak. To celebrate this, she spent a good hour and a half crying this morning (although she can be consoled for brief intervals... ). Other than that, she's been pretty amazing lately. Last night she slept for TWO sessions of 4-1/2 hours (allowing mom and dad to get some sleep), and is snoozing now. She also spends lots of time alert and looking around.

Big Day...

Today is the first day that Molly has been left alone ALL DAY with me. Adam is in California, attempting to find us a place to live. Molly and I got up early and went for a walk, while the weather was still bearable (93-degrees at 5:30am!). It has been five and a half hours, and we're doing great! Molly's sleeping right now:
