The Ducky and the Rose
Molly told me a story that I recorded on March 4th. I've finally transcribed it (as exact as I could pull off):
The Ducky and the
Rose
By Molly Adams
Freddy the Ducky
lives in a pond
He likes to swim and
play with his friends
But One day a
delivery person came
And he gave Freddy the
duck and his duck friends a magic rose
Everyday when you
smell it, you get good luck
The rose took them on
an adventure
It took them to queen
Elenore
The rose was given to
Freddy by the queen
She said, "I
want you to go on a very fun journey"
It was a journey to
get her a mirror
That granted five
wishes
It was hidden in a
sunken ship
So they walked and
swimmed and walked and swimmed and walked and swimmed
He was starving
So, he asked a little
kid
And the little kid
said "no, this is my pretzel"
And then he asked a
woman, but she said "No, this is my bun"
And then he asked a
fruit seller
And the fruit seller
said "sure" and he said "what food would you like?"
And Freddy said,
"I want a grape,"
And he gived him a
grape!
And then he started
to go off on the long journey with his friend.
And the rose.
But, something bad
was happening. There was a Troll Bridge.
It was a log
He didn't have time
And they called each
other silly names
But when they were
busy calling each other silly names, then he just went through.
After he crossed the
troll bridge, he found the sunken ship
But, it wasn't
sunken, but it was on the beach
(the ship bumped into
a rock and got broken and washed up on a beach)
He went in and a
little bit of spooky stuff happened
There were spiders
and wolves
And prairie dogs
Bad things happened
in there
And the rose told
him... “Make them distracted”
so
The prairie dogs got
a bone, the spiders got a new home, and the wolves got some bones too
So then they tiptoed
while those kids were having fun (the kids weren't their kids)
They came to a hole
and there was a treasure there
And they found the
mirror
This is what bad
happened.
The boat started to
rock and rock and came into the sea
But something bad
happened… it sunk!
But, good he was a
duck!
But poor all those
wolves and prairie dogs and spiders…
But he was alright,
cause he paddled onto shore.
But, he helped them
up too!
They didn’t drown,
but it was going to be hard to cross the Troll Bridge
That’s cause the
trolls were tiptoing inside.
But, he had a better
[?], he jumped on top of it and just walked on top.
The prairie dogs and
the wolves and the spiders just followed him everywhere, even in his balloon!
There were four
balloons and there was four [sets of] animals
And they each holded
their balloon and floated away, each where their home was.
Freddy got the rose
and gave Queen Elenore the mirror.
And this is the five
wishes she wanted:
She wanted a son
She wanted a castle
(she didn’t have a castle, she just had a house)
A true love
Ducky could keep the
rose forever
And be happy for the
rest of his life.
And they all lived
happily ever after.
